Politics suck. But there is something very strange and different about this election. I’m beginning to notice that the divisiveness within the democratic party is getting heated. Obama supporters are beginning to put Clinton in the (gasp!) Bush category. It’s kind of scary.

I think its happening for two reasons. One is the very reason you mention, we’re not a monarchy. Presidents and even family members are not supposed to come back around again.

The other reason is that Obama is not just a candidate. He represents a movement, and as Millennials we have only read about movements. We’ve never witnessed them. We’re all ready to witness and partake in one.

I’m inspired.

Hmmm, I think you’re right, he appears to be a strong movement (with the young, educated and more wealthy) crowd.

Unfortunately that crowd doesn’t comprise the majority (29% of CA voters are Latino) and it’ll take some action (as opposed to joining Facebook groups) for this to really happen for Obama.

…and that’s just the blue party.

so. you’ve hit a hot button topic so we’re going to get hot for a moment, okay? ;)

i’m extremely passionate when it comes to politics. to the point where i need to force myself to walk away at times because i get too involved or too worked up or too frustrated.

that being said, i haven’t felt so excited about an election in a long time. i’m a student
of history, and while the last 8 years have been a disgusting joke, i think that if it was
all in order for obama or clinton to become president, then perhaps everything does
have its reasons.

i must say that i get slightly peeved when people start mentioning the “america is not
a monarchy, what’s with all the bushes and clintons – one from either family will have
been president for the last 20 years.” and it’s true. if hillary gets elected, it will be another
4 years. but i wish people would start seeing hillary as the woman she has become, the
woman she presents herself as now, rather than who she was SIXTEEN to EIGHT years
ago. or associate her with bill. if there is anything she has proved, it is that she is her
own beast.

only in politics do people feel so unable to accept time and the changes that can occur
in that time; dare say, the ominous “flipflopping”. i used to dislike hillary a great deal;
i like her better now. do i think she’s the best candidate? i’m not sure. but don’t get
depressed devin! don’t get fed up.

nothing can be as awful as the last eight years. the lies. the mockery of the american
reputation. the abuse of our rights. we hit rock bottom. history, societies are all cyclical. have hope.

I really CANNOT believe you just used the words “HillaryCare”. The truth is that her healthcare plan is better than any bullshit that any Republican and/or Obama has put out there. I’m not her biggest fan (or even a fan really) but her healthcare plan is untouchable.

That being said – stop saying voting sucks! You’re discouraging people.

@Damsel: The Bush/Clinton joke is simply that… a joke. Don’t dismiss me as so ignorant so quickly. ;)

@Kiraa: Same to you, I’m just using the term HillaryCare jokingly, as the “opposition” has already done so well. If people are truly discouraged by my tongue-in-cheek rants then I think I’ll get into politics myself.
